How to Build a Better Fire

Fuel the Burn

PyreLogs™ are laser-cut from steel for fast and simple assembly. Here are some tips to build a better fire, faster

Each PyreLog™ is assembled with 3 side shields and 2 end caps:

1) Lay one side shield on a flat surface.

2) Slide an end cap onto both ends of the bottom shield, guiding the shield tabs into the end cap slots.

3) Slide the two remaining side shields into the end cap slots to form a triangle.

4) Lock end caps in place with hitch pins by sliding the flat leg of the pin through the hole in each shield tab.

5) Press the pin firmly to one side to secure the pin legs on either side of the tab's edge.

6) Repeat for all shield tab holes on both PyreLogs™.

Build the Council Fire Lay

1) Place 2 PyreLogs™ 10-12 inches apart inside your fire ring

2) Place tender and starter logs between the PyreLogs™

3) Lay the thickest firewood across the PyreLogs™ in a perpendicular pattern with a little space between each piece of wood (like setting up a game of Jenga®)

4) Build upwards, moving from the thickest to the thinnest firewood

5) Light the tender and let PyreLogs™ fuel the burn

Build the Log Cabin Fire Lay

1) Place 2 PyreLogs™ 10-12 inches apart inside your fire ring

2) Place tender and starter logs between the PyreLogs™

3) Lay the thickest firewood across the PyreLogs™ in a hashtag pattern with 6-8 inches of space between each piece of wood (think # or Tic-Tac-Toe)

4) Build your lay upward, with similar sized firewood from bottom to top

5) Light the tender and let PyreLogs™ fuel the burn

Build the Parallel Fire Lay

1) Place 2 PyreLogs™ 10-12 inches apart inside your fire ring

2) Place a starter log parallel between the PyreLogs™ then stuff tender into the gaps between the wood and PyreLogs™

3) Light the tender and add thin firewood until you have a solid flame

4) Lay thicker firewood parallel between the PyreLogs™

Add thick or green logs on the outside of the PyreLogs™ if building in windy conditions

5) Continue to add wood and let PyreLogs™ fuel the burn

Build the Lean-To Fire Lay *

1) Place 1 PyreLogs™ near the edge of your fire ring

2) Lean tender and starter against the PyreLogs™

3) Light the tender and add the thinnest firewood until you have a solid flame

4) Build your lay upward, moving to thicker wood as the fire gets bigger

5) Continue to add wood and let PyreLogs™ fuel the burn

* The Lean-To is not ideal on damp ground and is adapted from the survival method of using a large log as a wind-break while conserving burnable wood

Build the Box Fire Lay*
When you don’t have a fire ring to safely contain the flames

1) Place 4 PyreLogs™ in a square and line the outside edges with rocks

2) Assemble any of the firelays above

3) Light the tender and add the thinnest firewood until you have a solid flame

4) Continue to add wood and let PyreLogs™ fuel the burn

*The Box Fire Lay is only recommended when you do not have an approved fire ring available. Please take all necessary precautions prior to using this fire lay.

In the rare event that something catastrophic happens to your PyreLogs, PLEASE RECYCLE them.

A fire is your responsibility. Please read the PyreLogs™ Fire Safety and Disclaimers here.
